Flightless Bird, American Mouth

Though for me the Twilight movie was quite a bad cinematic experience, but the ensemble soundtrack of the movie is great in my opinion. Here is the lyric of a beautiful song from Iron & Wine, my most favorite from a prom dance scene;

I was a quick wet boy, diving too deep for coins
All of your street light eyes wide on my plastic toys
Then when the cops closed the fair, I cut my long baby hair
Stole me a dog-eared map and called for you everywhere

Have I found you
Flightless bird, jealous, weeping or lost you, american mouth
Big pill looming

Now I'm a fat house cat
Nursing my sore blunt tongue
Watching the warm poison rats curl through the wide fence cracks
Pissing on magazine photos
Those fishing lures thrown in the cold
And clean blood of Christ mountain stream

Have I found you
Flightless bird, grounded, bleeding or lost you, american mouth
Big pill stuck going down

The lyric is quite too much for me to chew, but from the interpretation that I read in the internet this is the one I most agree with:

He was the cat that lusted for her, the perfect prey, a flightless bird. He opened her up sexually & left, not realizing he fell in love. He came back to find her but he finds her surrounded by the rats aka other men. He is disgusted, worries that he was the cause & can't believe he did this to the person he fell in love with.
